Our Commitment to Racial Equity
This is a time of serious reflection and purposeful action as it relates to racial injustice in our nation. CASA staff and board have been saddened by the wrongful deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Sean Reed, Steven Taylor, Miles Hall, and the many other Black lives taken too soon because of racism and hatred. We acknowledge that experiences of injustice and violence are part of the daily existence of Black people and we affirm Black lives matter.
The board and staff of CASA of Contra Costa County is committed to values of cultural diversity, inclusion and equity for all. With open minds and compassionate hearts, our staff and board have begun seeking ways to promote racial equity within our organization, community, and the child welfare system. We will be asking our volunteers to participate in discussions and give us feedback on the issues we address and how we will do it.
