CASA Welcomes New Case Coordinator, Luana Horstkotte
We are excited to announce our new Case Coordinator, Luana Horstkotte! For the past seven years, Luana was a dependency attorney in Contra Costa County. She represented hundreds of foster children/youth and worked with many of our CASA volunteers over the years. She previously worked in the Contra Costa Public Defenders Office for eight years representing both adults and juvenile in the criminal justice system. Luana is bilingual in English and Spanish. She is also a registered member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma.
Between her public defender career and her most recent passion, dependency law, Luana learned the joy of volunteerism. She traveled back and forth to south east Louisiana, outside New Orleans, and volunteered with the United Houma Nation (largest Indian tribe in LA) helping to rebuild and repair homes for tribal elders and other members affected by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. But for the need to make a salary, she would probably still be there working down bayou.
Her extracurricular activities involve her family/dogs, reading and traveling…in that order.
