CASA Hires Kimberly Cinco, The Ultimate People Person

We are so excited to welcome onboard Kimberly Cinco, our new Case Coordinator! She is a true representation of what we had in mind for this position. She’s intelligent, compassionate, driven, fun and a natural people person. She was previously working in the role of a Probation Officer for the State of Hawaii Adult Probation Presentence Investigation Unit. She learned quickly that her heart was too big for probation, and although she loved case management, the law enforcement side of probation work never fully sat well with her.

Kimberly was thrilled when she saw this job opportunity and the fact that it was in the Contra Costa County. She says, “I grew up here in Pittsburg with my dad’s side of the family for a few years in elementary school, right before I moved and resided in Hawaii with my mom’s side for most of my life.”

Kimberly is not new to foster care. She was actually briefly in foster care as a kid, and then later on in life her mom was a foster mother to teenage girls, while she and her sister were teenagers! She says, “With these kinds of experiences, I can empathize with what these youth and caregivers are going through and I think it helps me see the big picture with how our CASA volunteers fit in to the whole juvenile dependency court process.”

Kimberly believes that the impact of CASA advocacy is simply allowing these children and youth to be heard. She says, “We have to put ourselves in their shoes, being shuffled around from place to place, not knowing what is happening, not fully understanding why things are taking so long… and much more. With a constant friendly face every week or so, the CASA can help ease that frustration, anxiety, uncertainty, etc. and make this time in their life a little bit more bearable."

Inspired by her own mother and Wonder Woman, Kimberly is passionate about helping others. She says, “In my personal and professional life, I try to do my best in all that I do. On a different note, I really enjoy learning new recipes and teaching myself how to cook and bake. Ask any one of my friends, I’d very much geek out at a kitchen supply store than at a clothing or shoe store!”

Kimberly’s favorite hobby is dance! If she can’t take a dance class in person, she usually turns to the internet and takes dance classes online. One of her favorite ways to recharge is to treat herself to a massage.

Kimbelry is working Monday through Friday 9-5. Stop by our office to say hi to her!
